Perrett to run again in Moreton
Mr Perrett said he was thrilled to again have the backing of his Party.
"It has been a great privilege to represent the people of Moreton and to serve as part of the Rudd Government," he said.
"Brisbane's southside is a great part of the world to live and raise a family and I have enjoyed working with businesses, community leaders, schools and others in our community to help make it an even better place.
"And I want to continue to stand up for the southside.
"It's important to have the backing of my party but now I'm looking forward to the ultimate test when we go to the people later this year."
Mr Perrett said he was surprised the Liberal National Party had not even selected a candidate for the seat.
"The Liberal and National Party are certainly missing in action on Brisbane's southside," he said.
Mr Perrett said the Moreton electorate would take on a different shape after the next election.
The Australian Electoral Commission has redrawn the boundaries to include the suburbs of Oxley, Corinda, Acacia Ridge and Willawong while Stretton, Karawatha and Calamvale move to Rankin.
